The Royal Palace
Well, among Madrid attractions the Royal Palace is definitely a must see. You should not miss the largest structure in the city. And you definitely should not miss the beauty that it holds from inside and out.
You will be in the presence of the some important works of important artists like Goya, Giordano, Velasquez, Tiepolo and Mengs. You could really feast your eyes on the paintings, the tapestries, the ceramics and the frescos all around the palace. Of course, the Royal Palace is also surrounded by beautiful gardens. The Royal Theater is also just right across it.
Puerta del Sol
You would not miss the Puerta del Sol because of its central location. When you drop by this area you’d see the famous clock that Spaniards use to count down to New Year’s Eve. Of course, it’s a part of the building Casa de Correos. Outside of this building, you’d see the stone slab which marks the starting point of the 6 national roads of the country.
Just across this building, you’ll see the El Oso y El Madroño. It’s a statue of a bear and a strawberry tree which is the official symbol of Madrid. Again being a central location, it’s actually a busy district. There are a lot of bars and restaurant around too.
Just near the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor is also in the same area. You’ll see more historic monuments and structures around the central square of Madrid. If you like to collect stamps, coins, or medals you’d be in for a treat because there are hundreds of stalls that sell these items.
You will also find some of the city’s best restaurants and bars around it. Just be prepared to pay extra though. Nevertheless, your money would always be worth it because of the relaxing atmosphere you’ll get.
The Debod Temple
Imagine seeing an authentic Egyptian temple right in Madrid. You’d be amazed to know that this temple was actually shipped from Egypt. You will see it near the Plaza de España and Paseo del Pintor Rosales. Of course, you would love the park surrounding the temple. You’d also enjoy the view of the Guadarrama mountains. There’s a good view of the sunset right there too.
