Madrid, Spain‘s exciting capital, is the heart of modern Spain. Madrid offers a number of fabulous activities for visitors to the city, from shopping and fine dining to cultural activities and thriving nightlife. Best of all, Madrid is reasonably priced in comparison to other Western European cities, with lots of budget hotels in Madrid centre.

Madrid has a variety of interesting neighbourhoods, with several ideally located within reach of some of the city’s main attractions. Puerta del Sol, is located in the middle of the city which makes it perfect for exploring and getting the most out of the city. It is an area filled with great architecture, restaurants, shops, and bars. It’s also located within easy walking distance of the ever popular Gran Via. Asturias Hotel is a reasonably priced accommodation option for those who want to stay in the Puerta del Sol area. Nearby are two different Metro stops, the Plaza Mayor, and the Palacio Real.

Another centrally located neighbourhood is Gran Via. Here, visitors can easily travel to other parts of the city, as well as be in close proximity to a variety of places to shop, eat, and party. Petit Palace Tres Cruces is a cheap hotel that’s a great place to stay for those who want to be within close proximity to Parque del Retiro, a beautiful park perfect for relaxing, Real Jardin Botanico, Madrid’s gorgeous botanical gardens, and two of the world’s best museums, the Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia.

Visitors who would prefer to stay in a quieter, exclusive area should consider the Hotel High Tech President Castellana in Salamanca. This budget hotel is surrounded by one of Madrid’s most upscale neighbourhoods and is an especially good place to stay for visitors who want to do some major shopping, as it’s near to lots of department stores such as Spain’s El Corte Ingles, top international designer boutiques, and Centro Comercial ABC Serrano, one of Madrid’s best shopping malls.

For a neighbourhood with a decidedly local flavour that’s popular with young people, Plaza de Santa Barbara is known for its lively bars, cafes, and tapas restaurants. Here, Petit Palace Santa Barbara is an inexpensive option perfect for exploring the area or walking to nearby Gran Via or Puerta del Sol.

No matter what sort of traveller you are or what budget you have, Madrid has plenty of cheap accommodation across the city to suit all tastes and needs.
