From the Airport to Your Place

Make the most of your holidays in Madrid by getting at Madrid’s Barajas Airport which is about 8 miles from the city. There is no need to worry once you land in the airport because it is conveniently connected to the city’s most famous spots.

If you want to travel quickly, the metro is your best choice because it only takes 20 to 30 minutes to go in Nuevos Ministerios and then from there you can connect to a nearby station to your hotel.

If you want you can also take the airport bus to reach the city center and the bus will drop you off at Plaza de Colón. You can also take the AeroCity minibus or hire a taxi to get you right on your doorsteps. But you need to know that taking the cab and the minibus will take some time because of heavy traffic. It can be so much fun if you plan a holidays in Madrid. Accommodation is easy because hostels are centrally located across the city.

Holidays in Madrid with its Art Galleries

Madrid offers the rich collection sculptures, modern media artwork, photographs, paintings, and other art works by Picasso and Dali at Centro de Arte Reina Sofia located in Atocha district. If you are more interested in many traditional works like those of El Greco, Caravaggio, Rubens, Velázquez, Goya, and Rubens go and visit Palacio Real or Royal Palace. More Tiepolo frescos are also present in the Palace.

A Day of Bullfighting and Football Game

You can also enjoy other activities in Madrid like watching bullfighting in La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas and football teams in action. The Real Madrid home game is a much-celebrated sport in Spain. But if there are no football games during your travel, you can tour around Bernabéu stadium and take a glimpse of the trophy room as you enjoy a stroll on the pitch afterwards.

Madrid Bars and Flea Markets

Go to bars to complete your holidays in Madrid, go to Lavapies or La Latina, bars that also offer the best curry, cheap drinks and cocktails you will enjoy. You will also get to know a lot of people from around the world because these bars are known as multicultural bars. You can also hit the place called Berlin Cabaret and party with a crowd dressed in a mixture of red velvet and suspender belts, a crowd that can part until the break of the dawn.

After partying, it’s time to fritter away some of your remaining euros by going to the Rastro aka Europe’s biggest flea markets. This is where you can get the best bargain and huge selection of products you will die to shop.

Truly, you can never go wrong in any of the activities you engage in Madrid. Also, you will never get disappointed in every restaurant, bar, and art gallery you will visit as you spend a holidays in Madrid.
