The Royal Palace
As the name suggests, this is the official home of the royal family so it’s really a must see while in the city. You are in luck though because it’s just next to The Cathedral. Palacio de las Cortes de España
If you are looking for examples of late neoclassical architecture, the Palacio de las Cortes de España is certainly a good one. You would immediately notice the impressive columns in front of the building. Of course, you would not miss the two bronze lions which are the works of Ponzano.
Once inside, you would observe the hemiciclo forming the parliamentary chamber. You would also find various statues representing past leaders. Those of kings Ferdinand and Isabella are placed in the center.
Palacio del Senado
The Palacio del Senado is actually not that far from the Royal Palace. So, you can easily visit it after exploring the Royal Palace. The rounded façade in one of the extensions of the building is certainly something that would make you want to visit it. Of course, the interiors were designed by many leading architects in their time. The monument of Antonio Canovas del Castillo is also an important part of it.
Casa de la Siete Chimeneas
The seven chimneys in this Renaissance styled house already make it quite unique. But one thing you should also know is that this house is said to be haunted too. Perhaps stories go with its age as this house was built in the 16th century.
Several versions of the legend go with the house. So, if you’re up for an adventure you should visit the place.
