The Almudena Cathedral

Basilica de San Francisco el Grande
The Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is quite famous for the size of its dome. When you see it in person, you would of course understand how it gives the Basilica a dominant and elegant look.
If you observe closely, you even be impressed by the seven doors around the church which are all made of carved walnut. But you should explore into the three chapels connected to the church. You would be amazed by the masterpieces contained in each of them.
You would see Goya’s San Bernardino de Siena. You would also see the paintings of Zurbaran, Alfonso Cano and and many others. The works of Mariano Benlliure and Ricardo Bellver are among the marble sculptures in the church. Of course, you would also love all the frescoes and the stained glass windows that cover the whole basilica.
The Church of San Isidro el Real
With San Isidro being the male patron saint of Madrid, this church certainly is among the most important Madrid churches. Being so, you will also get to see and take part in important celebrations held in this church especially during the feast of San Isidro.
You will also love the art held in this church. There’s the altarpiece made by Sebastian Herrera. You get to enjoy the paintings of Claudio Coello, Ricci and Herrera. The sculptures of Juan Pascual de Mena are, of course, noteworthy.
